This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!
Lathering my chest I reflected on how much I respected the elder statesmen who faced down so much hate when they came out. Sure, there was still tons of toxicity to be found but many of the players who would be here tomorrow didn’t have queer representation on their teams. Many had hidden their sexuality for years. It took guts to come out back then. Shit, it took guts to come out now. My mind flicked to Gabe and how incredibly brave he was. I couldn’t imagine how tough it had been for him to enter the church being openly bisexual. That was fucking admirable. Okay, I was going to church today. I had to, if only to support Gabe in some small way. Also, Mama would be thrilled when she called at ten sharp. That was her time to check on me weekly then prod me to go talk with God. You could set you watch by her call.
I rinsed off, hustled to my cubicle, ducked an incoming ball of tape that my defensive partner had lobbed at my head, and then rushed to dress.
“Hey, are you going to the chalet for this brunch thing?” Fossie asked, padding over in soggy Crocs and his boxers.
Everyone in Watkins Glen knew the chalet. “Oh, yeah, I guess. We have to right? I mean if Henri invites us…” I let that dangle because why go on?
“Yeah pretty much.” The GM would be there representing the owner who had been close with Henri’s father. Rumor had it the Gaudino’s had a small share of the team so we were kind of expected to say ‘How high’ when the winery owner said jump. “Might not be too bad. A few of the alumni will be there. Some press. You know, society page shit.”
I nodded. Yeah, I knew. “I’ll meet you there then.”

Yes, I can imagine it must have been tough to enter the church that way. Great use of the word prompt and this story just keeps getting more interesting with every snippet.

Great scene. You wouldn’t have to twist my arm to go to brunch at a winery. Life has always been hardest on those who don’t fit someone’s definition of normal.

Churches — or the members of them– can be the most judgmental of all places in the world even when they are supposed to love all. Good job on this snippet and his understanding on how hard that can ne.
