It’s time for Tuesday Tales!
Today we have an excerpt from Off the Rack, an upcoming novella that I’m serializing for my newsletter readers.
Please do bear in mind that these snippets are unedited so please be kind if you find any mistakes.
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!
“No, I’m going to go home,” he informed me as he pulled on his shirt. What a pity it was to cover all that skin and muscle with cotton.
“Oh?” That took me aback. I dabbed at my lips with a napkin as the summer sun warmed my condo. I’d need to close the vertical blinds soon but watching the sunbeams dance along his face and shoulders was worth a slightly higher air conditioning bill. “You’re not changing your mind are you?”
He glanced up from buttoning his shirt. His expression was softer than it had been. “No, I’m not backing out. I’m not your ex. When I say I’ll do something I do it.”
“Yes, surely I just…” That had taken me aback. “It’s not that I’m concerned in the least that you might bail. There are a thousand other men who’d be happy to fill your rather large shoes.”
“Probably.” He stuffed his tie into his front pocket then slid his feet into said large shoes. That small nasty voice that lived in my head began to sound off with a very pronounced lisp that I abhorred.
Trust me Miss Bitchy Pants there are not a thousand other men. You drive away every man with your snitty sniping and pathetic pronunciations.
He walked over to me perched on my stool. “I only brought enough clothes for the weekend. Also, I want to tell my folks I’m making a temporary move to Manhattan to look for work and that a new friend might have an in for me at Pings & Things. Oh, and that I got engaged.”
Sure, yes, I could see that he would wish to fill in his family about his engagement. Not all families were as dysfunctional as mine was. “That’s a sensible move. I can buy you clothes. Hell I make clothes. I’ll whip you up a wardrobe fit for—”
His soft lips crashed over mine. I wasn’t expecting the kiss at all but I melted into it, my hands skimming up along his arms to his shoulders. He licked into my mouth as he cradled my face. He tasted of coffee and Vermont maple syrup. It was a taste that I could easily become addicted to if I wasn’t careful. As much as my prick liked this man – which was a lot – I dared not have any feelings for him. Once bitten, twice shy as that saying goes. I could not be careless with my affections again. Only in my case it was several times bitten starting with my father leaving me for— Nope, not going there. Fuck that noise.
“I can buy my own clothes but thanks for the offer. I’ll be back in a few days. If Grandma Hara calls and asks for me tell her I had to make a short trip to shoot some famous fashion model. That should impress her.”
“Yes, of course,” I sighed, my lips tingling still.
