“No, I didn’t have any money to go to the hospital. I thought my rib was cracked maybe but it’s better now. It looked worse than it was.” I lied. It was pretty bad. Diego was a big dude, trained in the Marine Corps. He knew how to hit and where. Truthfully I thought I was going to die that night. If not for Allita I probably would have. “I’m fine. It’s okay.” I said to hopefully wipe away the deep lines of concern on her brow. “I would have never left Shaklee Falls otherwise. I’d have stuck around, finished my stupid community college courses, and ended up being miserable my whole life. One night of pain got me all the way to Wilmington and the Campo! Maybe I should thank Diego.”
“Honey, you should not thank that barbarian for one damn thing! You should put on your pointiest pumps and kick him in the balls if you ever lay sight on him again!”
Her anger was incredible. The passion that she felt on my behalf made me feel all kinds of things. Warm and wanting things. I rose up quickly, heart and mind overwhelmed with emotion, and kissed her right on her flaming red lips. Her fingers were still holding my chin when I grew bold and licked at the seam of Sitka’s full lips. There was a pause, a brief inhalation of breath, and then she eased back into the sensations of mouth moving over mouth.
