Seriously, is there anything worse than the sound of a phone alarm beside your head at the ass crack of dawn?
The answer is no, not there is not, Kenji.
Rolling to my side I swiped the contents sitting atop my nightstand to the floor. Where the phone landed but continued to beep-beep-beep-beep and buzz-buzz-buzz-buzz. I knew what time it was without even seeing my phone. Five in the morning. The standard time for young men who trained under Iilan Sidorov to crawl out from under the covers where he was having a really nice dream starring himself and Lenny Kravitz doing a pairs routine. Lenny was shirtless, which was not at all acceptable attire for a skater during a competition but hey, if Lenny wanted to bare his chest I certainly wasn’t going to stop him. That man is delish.
The phone kept it up, vibrating under the bed by the sounds of phone on hardwood floor.
“Ugh,” I groaned at the incessant beeping and buzzing. Moving to my belly I gently moved Koro, my sobo’s cat, who was nearly as old as my grandmother but not nearly as nice. He growled. I changed my mind and wiggled around the grumpy black cat with the ragged ear. For some reason he always slept with me. Not a clue why as any other time the ancient cat didn’t like me much. Guess I had the best bed in the house. Sliding to the floor, the room dark save for the light of phone under the bed, I reached under my bed. I finally found where it had slid under, and now lay beside a pair of old hockey skates, way too small now, all covered with dust.

Lol I know how he feels, I hate being awakened by an alarm. Love the description of the cat. Great scene

I love this scene. You’ve put me right there and I am with him, reluctant to move and ticked off that I have to. Yeah. Pro athletes have to do lots of stuff the rest of us would howl about. That’s they they are who they are. And I’d be happy to stay in bed. Great job!
Flossie Benton Rogers says
Excellent job of setting the scene and giving us quite a lot of information about him in the process.

I love the comments about the cat, how it sleeps with him and that’s it. I am dying to know the story about the skates. Great job!
Trisha Faye says

I love ‘That man is delish.’ Great phrase.
