It’s World Honey Bee Day!
Hubster and I got into beekeeping about three years ago and just love it! It’s been a real learning experience, especially for me as I grew up being terrified of bees. Yep, I was that girl who would dash about, flailing and screaming if a honey bee even looked at me funny. Now, after having our hives for a few years and working with the girls up close and in person, I’m much more comfortable around them. Yes, I’ve been stung a time or two but I’m no longer living in fear of bumping into a bumbling bee!

I had to be really grown up to appreciate the honey they collect. I love bees and hope they are still around when mankind has gone.

I love that bees pollinate both food and flowers for we humans.

I have a couple of friends who are beekeepers. I always try to buy local honey. It’s just the best. My town recently remolded our downtown (you have to understand that my hometown is the home of the original creator or Monopoly, Lizzy Magie, so our downtown looks exactly like a Monopoly board. We actually have an online game called Macomb-opoly). We now have several green spaces planted with flowers to help bees and other pollinators.

The healing qualities of honey just astound me. I wish more people knew about natural medicines. xxx
