It’s time for Tuesday Tales!
Today we have a snippet from Final Shot, Overtime Trilogy #2, my current MM hockey romance project. Our word prompt today is “Laughter” and in this week’s snippet Dan and Vic are chatting long distance.
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!
I chortled at him. He had a way with words for sure. “Not too bad right now, Bill gave me some meds. It’s feeling achy but so’s the ankle.”
“You’ll keep an eye on it, yeah?”
“Yeah, I will.” He meant the bruise. “Look babe, I got to crash before the meds start to slack off. We’re flying out early so should see you around noon. Coming to pick me up?”
“Try to stop me. We don’t have a practice until Friday night, so I’ll ice your leg and rub something slippery on your asshole.”
“My asshole is good,” I replied with a sleepy laugh.
“Fucking right it is. Hey, all kidding aside, Dan, you mind that leg, right?”
“Right, it’s good. I’m fading babe…” A yawn rolled out of me. “See you…morrow.”
If he said anything else I didn’t know. I passed out. When I woke up the next morning my phone was buried in the covers, my ankle was pulsing like a bad tooth, and my calf was hot, hard, and swelling. Stretching for the light made me moan. I called down for ice from room service, then I rang up Tim Portman, one of the defensemen, for something stronger than Advil. Tim always had extra meds. Legal meds, nothing hinky just lots of pain killers. He delivered right to the door, faster than room service. I washed down the little brown pills with coffee that I had made in the tiny room coffee pot. Once the ice arrived, I wrapped myself from ankle to above the knee, then placed the ice packs around me. I hissed at the cold touching exposed flesh on the inside of my thigh. Then I called Bill, the head trainer, to come check things out because he was anal about being in the loop on injuries.

I love the banter between them and I could totally feel him being pulled under by sleep by the way you wrote it. Great job!

And you’re leaving us there? Sounds almost like an infection. I feel like I want to treat it myself. Great description -pulsing like a bad tooth — boy I can relate to that and I’m sure everyone else can, too. Great writing!

I hope his leg gets better pronto! Great scene.
