It’s time for Tuesday Tales!
Today we have an excerpt from Spiritual Whispers, an upcoming PNR gay romance that I’m currently working on for release next year around Halloween.
Please do bear in mind that these snippets are unedited so please be kind if you find any mistakes.
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!
He lived frugally that was for sure but the small space seemed comfortable if somewhat jumbled. His cat paraded out to see us. I stepped around the old guy several times. Taliesin began futzing around with something under the register so I wandered out to the Jeep to gather up the jar of buttons that had ridden home by my feet. Holding it up to the late afternoon sun I saw several fancy buttons of silver and a few that appeared to be bone. There were lots of shiny ones and a few great big fabric covered buttons that I was sure would please him. I refused to question myself over why making the man happy was now so damned important.
I walked into his kitchen the back door working on what to say to him. The rickety screen door clattered shut behind me. Using my elbow I nudged the heavier interior door closed as well to keep the warmth and the cat inside. Taliesin walked through the doorway, his attention on some brass pulls in his hand.
“Here are your new buttons,” I chanced to say. His gaze flew from the drawer pulls to me, then dropped to the jar. I gave it a wiggle. “I’m sorry if I embarrassed you at the sale. I just…” I ran a hand over the nape of my neck. “Well, I guess I just wanted to impress you. And I’m stupidly competitive. I sincerely only wanted to make you smile.”
He let out a long, shuddering breath then launched himself at me, the pulls tumbling from his hand to the dusty floor. Eyes going wide, I caught him with one arm around his lean middle just as his mouth crashed over mine. My back hit the door. His fingers dove into my hair. I licked along the seam of his mouth once the shock wore off and he let me in. The sharp pain of the doorknob in my lower back faded into the distance. Hell, the whole state of Vermont dwindled into nothingness when his tongue touched mine.

Great scene. As a kid, I used to love playing with the buttons in the big jar my grandmother kept. I would take them out and sort them in different ways. In fact, I could spend a whole afternoon just playing with buttons. Thanks for bringing back a great memory..

Wow! What a vivid scene! I love the way he just leapt at him after finding out he’d be welcomed. And the passion and heat between them almost lit my screen on fire! Such beautiful language about the state of Vermont disappearing while they cranked up the heat. Intense. Fabulous!

That was a shocking end and good for him. Well done. Funny about Vermont.
